L’OCCITANE Australia has partnered with the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife (FNPW) as a charity partner, to restore natural habitats by regenerating Australia post bush-fires, support for vegetation and wildlife rehabilitation across Australia. The importance of this announcement comes just in time for National Tree Day of Australia, August 2nd which reminds on all Australians to planting trees and shrubs to improve the natural environment.
L’OCCITANE is an iconic French beauty brand, Founded in 1976 in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence region, has always been committed to protecting the natural heritage of Provence and the Mediterranean. Nature is L’OCCITANE’s main inspiration, supports local initiatives that aim to promote Provence’s land, traditions, and know-how, share knowledge about natural plant heritage, and protect threatened varieties and ecosystems.
The L’OCCITANE Ecosystem Replacement Fund created in early 2020 by the LOOCCITANE Group to assist ecosystems severely affected by natural disasters, dedicated to planting seedlings in Bushfire Recovery Nurseries in affected areas around Australia; with the target of planting one million trees in the next five years.
Managing Director of LOOCCITANE, Australia, Pierre-Emanuel Joffre said: “Having first arrived in Australia just six months before the bushfires, I was saddened by the devastation they caused to the landscapes, wildlife, and communities around the country. As a brand originated from nature and the use of botanical ingredients, it has long been a commitment of ours to respect and support biodiversity and so we are thrilled to be able to support the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife in its mission of planting one million trees around Australia.”
In response to the steadily degrading environment, the FNPW has been working since 2015 on the “Plant a Tree for Me” initiative. It is a practical and effective way for Australians to invest in conservation by donating to grow native trees, enhance biodiversity, and provide essential habitat.
Ian Derbyshire, CEO of the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife said: “It’s thanks to partners such as L’OCCITANE Australia that we can respond quickly to the healing of our land post bush-fires. Planting one million trees in Bush-fire Recovery Nurseries around Australia will be an important step in our regeneration and we appreciate the support of the wider community to help restore and protect the future of Australia.”
FNPW’s mission while more than 50 years. FNPW and Global Reforestation planted a non-profit One Tree project, On World Earth Day in April 2020, to plant one million trees in Bush-fire Recovery Nurseries around Australia to rebuild wildlife habitats and in national parks across Australia, as well as on government and private lands affected by bush-fires.
